Healthy Babies at the Sedgwick County Health Department is an educational program for prenatal and parenting families at no cost. Registered nurses and community liaisons provide education and family support through home and office visits. Providers are also available at community clinics to accompany clients to well-child visits and assist with navigation through the healthcare system. Moms who participate in Healthy Babies can earn incentives by reaching various milestones throughout their time in the program.
Dental screenings, cleanings and other dental services are offered at Grace Med clinics. A release from your provider for treatment is required, however it is recommended that pregnant women receive at least one dental check-up during pregnancy. Count the Kicks educates expectant mothers about the importance of tracking baby movements during the third trimester. Information about this program is also offered during one of the Baby Talk Prenatal Education classes.
Moms-to-be can access information on nutritional needs during pregnancy at www.myplate.org. A My Plate Daily Checklistis also available. Other information provided includes making healthy choices, food safety, nutrition during breastfeeding, and much more!
